Junior Climate Stewards Kick-off a Huge Success
On Oct. 9, CLI unveiled the Junior Climate Stewards global warming middle school curriculum to a group of Lane county teachers at a three-hour workshop. Teachers who took the training responded to the curriculum with great enthusiasm, saying that they had been looking for a less piecemeal way of teaching climate change and a means of empowering students to get engaged in the topic.
Participants unanimously reported satisfaction with the training, materials, and presenters, with nearly all calling the workshop excellent compared to others they've attended. Teachers said the curriculum was relevant, practical, and easy to use. One wrote, “Excellent. Good instructional presenters. The curriculum seems very straightforward; you could begin implementing it immediately.”
The positive response has made clear the need for both the curriculum and trainings, which CLI plans to offer around the state and region in the upcoming year.
