Project Introduction

The goal of the Local Government Climate program is to develop regional working groups of local government officials in the Pacific Northwest . The regional working group network continually shares actions and strategies and supports climate protection policy and program development. This includes ordinances, resolutions, and climate action plans. The network will include a private access web-based discussion board for officials to converse on problems and a system to establish email alerts on climate change issues of special interests to local governments. A series of climate change briefings apprise elected officials and staffs of cities, counties, tribes and special districts on climate change risks, policies and actions for greenhouse gas reduction, and adaptation strategies that can produce economic benefits. We are developing a handbook of adaptation and mitigation strategies that can be implemented on a local level.
